Contact Me/ FAQs

How do I contact you?

Please feel free to email me or call 410 610 4242.  I'm happy to answer any questions you might have and set up a first appointment.

What do you charge for a session?

The first time we meet, we will discuss fees and get to know each other. If you decide not to return or I think you need someone with different skills, then there is no charge for the initial meeting.  Because I am licensed, insurance usually covers part or most of the fee.

What about insurance?

I am a Blue Cross Blue Shield provider and will bill them directly for services. Your co-pay is generally the same as when you see your primary care doctor.   If you have any other insurance, you will be provided with a receipt to submit for reimbursement.  Many insurers offer some out-of-network coverage for therapy.   You may also chose to pay directly for sessions and not use your insurance.

Where are your offices located?  Is there public transportation?

Brookland Pastoral Center, 1325 Quincy Street NE, Washington DC  200017

This is a residential neighborhood, five blocks from the Brookland/CUA Metro Station on the Red Line; the H7 bus stops on Quincy at 14th Street.  There is free parking and a handicap access ramp.

1602 Carlyle Drive,  Crofton MD 21114.

Crofton is a few miles north of the Route 50 and Route 3/301 intersection.  Nearby communities include Odenton, Severna Park, Bowie and Annapolis (all 10-30 minutes away).  Parking on the street is free; there is no public transportation.

What is “Pastoral Counseling?”

Pastoral Counseling is an approach to therapy that emerged in the 1960s and 70s.  The first pastoral counselors were mostly ministers who became therapists but continued to be attentive to their clients’ spiritual concerns.  Since that time, Masters and PhD programs in Pastoral Counseling have been established in many colleges and universities.  The coursework meets the state requirements for Licensed Professional Counselors.

Pastoral Counseling is not about a specific religion or faith tradition.  It is an approach that honors an awareness of how our values or beliefs enrich and ground us in our daily lives.  Pastoral Counselors are also attentive to the pain or judgment that many have experienced from organized religion.  Some clients address their spiritual concerns openly – some never mention them at all.   It is completely up to you.
