My Training and Experience

I have worked as a therapist since 1990 and been in private practice since 1998.  After getting my degree (MS, Pastoral Counseling, Neumann College, PA),  I obtained my National Certification and Professional Licenses in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.   I chose Pastoral Counseling because of the importance given to spirituality as part of emotional and psychological health.  It is not a therapy model that promotes any particular religion or faith tradition.

As well as private practice, I’ve done clinical work in agencies and residential facilities with the elderly, adult children of aging parents, teen moms, and adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

I enjoy facilitating workshops and training for a variety of organizations, using my BFA in Theatre to bring a creative edge to growth and learning environments.  From time to time, I offer short term therapy groups organized around specific areas of interest.  If you are interested in more information about workshops or groups, please contact me.

As part of my professional development and personal growth, I take a minimum of 25 hours of continuing education every year.  In 2007, I completed a certificate course in Gerontology offered by Boston University’s School of Social Work.   I’ve also trained in Imago Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Mindfulness and Yoga as elements in therapy.  I follow the Standards for Ethics held by the National Board of Certified Counselors.
