What are your fees?

The first time we meet, we will review the fee scale and talk about any accommodation. If you decided not to continue, there is no charge for the initial meeting.

What about insurance?

Currently, I accept some of the Blue Cross  Blue Shield plans in Maryland and in DC.  If you have other insurance, you will be provided with a receipt that you can submit directly to your insurance company or to your flex plan for reimbursement.  Many insurance companies have some coverage for therapy or you may chose to pay for services yourself.

What is "Pastoral Counseling?"

Pastoral Counseling is an approach to therapy that emerged in the 1960s and 70s. The first pastoral counselors were mostly ministers who became therapists but continued to be attentive to their clients' spiritual concerns. Since that time, graduate school programs specifically for pastoral counseling have been established in many colleges and universities. Pastoral Counseling is not about a specific religion or faith tradition - it is about an awareness of how meaning, purpose and the practice of gratitude enrich and ground us in our daily lives. Pastoral Counselors are also attentive to the pain or judgement that many have experienced from organized religion. Some of my clients address their spiritual concerns openly - some never mention them at all.
